Caraway LeBlanc is a New Orleans based law firm.
Katy Caraway is an experienced
litigator who has focused primarily on personal injury and medical
malpractice cases. She has also consulted corporate clients on risk
management issues. Ms Caraway has tried cases in both state and federal
courts in Louisiana and she has presented seminars to lawyers and
healthcare professionals on a variety of legal and ethical issues.
Ms. Caraway attended Tulane University where she earned her BA in Communications. For approximately 10 years, she worked as a radio news reporter, news anchor, and talk show host at WTIX, WLMG and WWL. While still working as a journalist, she started her legal studies at Loyola Law School. Ms. Caraway was a Moot Court teaching assistant, competed twice with Loyola's Spring Team and graduated in the top 25% of her class in 1991.
Ms. Caraway is a member of the Louisiana Bar Association, the Louisiana Hospital Association, and the Association of Women Attorneys. She serves on the Board of Directors of Belle Reve, an assisted living facility for individuals and families living with HIV-AIDS. She continues to be involved with the media and is an occasional announcer at WWNO, community-supported radio. She was recently named one of the Top 50 New Orleans Attorneys by CityBusiness.
Ann Marie LeBlanc has 15 years of experience as a litigator. She was named Special Counsel at Frilot Partridge before joining in partnership with Katy Caraway to form Caraway LeBlanc, L.L.C. Ms. LeBlanc's area of practice includes medical malpractice, insurance issues and employment discrimination. In addition to individuals, she has represented hospitals, physicians, insurance companies and large corporations.
Ms. LeBlanc received her undergraduate degree in Communications
from Loyola University in New Orleans and worked as a broadcast
journalist at the top rated radio and television stations in the
city prior to attending Loyola Law School. She was a member of the
Loyola Law Review and Moot Court Staff. She is the author of
Louisiana's Fair Employment Statutes: A Cry for Clarity amid
Expansive Federal Civil Rights Protection, 37 Loy. L. Rev. 313
(1991).
Ms. LeBlanc is a member of the Federal Bar Association, Louisiana Bar Association and New Orleans Bar Association. She also serves as a board member on the Lakeview Civic Improvement Association, a local community organization committed to restoring one of the hardest hit areas of New Orleans following Hurricane Katrina.
Ms. Karen Duncan, "of counsel" to Caraway LeBlanc, LLC, is a registered nurse and attorney. She has extensive experience representing nursing homes, long-term care facilities, rehabilitation centers, pharmaceutical companies, and individual medical professionals. She has defended malpractice and medical device/products cases and represented parties in medical staff peer review proceedings.
Ms. Duncan is a former hospital risk manager. She attended the Charity Hospital School of Nursing, earned her B.S. in Nursing from the University of the State of New York, Regent's College, and obtained her law degree from Loyola University School of Law in 1995. She has written legal/medical articles for such publications as DRI's The Voice, Impact Lawbrief and HCA Hospital Newsletter.
Ms. Duncan is Secretary and Former Chair of the Board of Trustees, Trinity Counseling and Training Center, Inc., which provides low-cost mental health counseling in New Orleans. She is also active in her neighborhood organization.
